Think of possible PD items for mentor and provisional educator inservice. Some are listed below.
Review lesson plans and talk about how they can be improved
Address JPAS issues and concerns
Meeting the needs of individual students
Review spreadsheets and make sure all information is current and correct. If new teachers have been hired, make sure they are placed on the spreadsheet, if provisional.
Survival - Teachers are continuing to survive and do their best to keep up. They are tired, overwhelmed, lacking self confidence, emotional, and exhausted. Now more than ever, they need emotional support to carry them through this phase.
Review lesson plans and talk about they can be improved
Increase student involvement
instructional strategies that meet the needs of diverse students
Align assessment with objective
Discuss concerns about students who may be struggling and how to implement Tier 1 interventions
Model how to bring up concerns with students during PLC time, and discuss possible solutions
Provide support as needed for grading, skyward, and report cards
Review need for parent communication for struggling students
Assist with wrapping up first term, grade transmittal, deadlines, etc.
Reflect on JPAS Goals
Discuss balance and priorities
If mentor has not completed an informal observation, meet with provisional educator to discuss a time to observe based on JPAS goals and provide constructive feedback
Provide emotional support as needed
Revisit goals set in September and adjust as needed. Reflect on October and set goals for improvement
Help Secondary teachers prep for the end of the first semester
