The 4TH-5TH century cultural relics exhibition in Pingcheng of Northern Wei Dynasty is coming to an end~

The exhibition is co sponsored by Anhui Museum, Datong Institute of Archaeology and Datong Museum. There are 309 pieces (sets) of exhibits, including copper gilded boy's grape pattern high foot cup, ground flower glass bowl and other silk road treasures. There are also the first appearance of newly unearthed cultural relics in recent two years, such as murals of Northern Wei Dynasty tombs and gold jaw brackets. There are 60 pieces (sets) of traveling Figurine array and more than 40 pieces (sets) of various figures There are also three-dimensional printing of the seven Buddha statues in Yungang Grottoes. In addition, the audience can also scan the QR code to understand the whole process of archaeological excavation, restoration and protection of murals.

Unearthed in the Tomb of Emperor Kaihuang of the Sui Dynasty in Hefei in 1984

It has a circular ring shape, slightly inwardly rolled edges, an arc-shaped section, and no lines on the surface. According to the unearthed epitaph, the owner of the tomb is Zhang Jing, originally from Qinghe County (near Qinghe County, Hebei Province), and was buried here in the third year of Emperor Kaihuang (583 AD). The unearthed golden ring is thin. It is made of sequins and has a simple appearance.

Hollowed-out Pendant with Double Dragon Pattern

Dates: Song Dynasty

Size: length 7.7cm; width 6.5cm

The heart-shaped pendant is made of two pieces of gold pressed together. Its center is slightly bulged while the edges are thin and are engraved with linking ball pattern and grass leaf pattern. Both sides of the pendant are engraved with double dragon pattern and the dragon tails roll upwards. There is a hole at the top of the pendant for wearing. A variety of gold and silver processing techniques are adopted in making this pendant, such as hammering, carving, welding, line-cutting, and molding. The pendant is tied to the bottom of the embroidered tasseled cape to make it hang down, which was part of the ceremonial dress worn by noblewomen in the Song Dynasty. Exquisite and delicate, it is a perfect combination of utility and decoration.

“Yizisun”Bell-shaped Golden Ornament

Dates: Eastern Han Dynasty

Size: length 2.3cm; width 1.71cm; thickness. 0.55cm; weight 1.8g

Unearthed from Wuguidun Tomb, west suburb of Hefei City in 1955

There is a hole at the center of the knob, and three characters “Yi Zi Sun”vertically set on the body. It was an auspicious phrase in the Han Dynasty and meant “good for the descendants”. The characters are surrounded by linking ball pattern and next to the second and third character are paralleled petal and leaf pattern, which was similar to that of the grass leaf-pattern mirror in the Han Dynasty. The petals are made of extremely fine gold wire and gold beads and are integrated with the stems and leaves. The ornament is dazzling and shows the high level of craftsmanship in the Han Dynasty.
