Hello Wolf Pack Families!
We have a full week ahead with our Parklands Field Trip on Thursday, athletic events, and more!
Students will begin receiving their Chromebooks this week. Team Determination will receive their Chromebooks on Monday, and Team Perseverance and Endurance will receive their Chromebooks on Tuesday. We are reviewing our technology expectations with our students this week. Please remind your student to charge their Chromebook every night and bring them to school each day. Try to develop a daily routine; find a safe location to keep your student’s Chromebook away from liquids, food, or accidents.
Our library collection will be delivered this week. We are excited to get our library up and running for students to begin to check out books.
I also wanted to clearly communicate that we have and will continue to have a tight safety plan regarding the on-going construction in our buildings. Any part of the building that has been cleared for students and staff to use, there are no outside workers allowed in those areas during the school day hours. They use separate entry/exit doors, and the areas they are working in are locked/not accessible by our students or staff during the school day.
We continue to communicate with our students each morning what it means to be “GREAT” at Echo Trail. Feel free to talk with your student about our expectations and what they mean:
G- Growth Mindset
R- Ready and Responsible
E- Enthusiastic Attitude
A- Actively Participate
T- Treat yourself and others with kindness
Reminders:
Please reference this map for AM arrival and PM dismissal

Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) now provides the Edulog Parent Portal Lite smartphone app to help you receive information about your student’s school bus ride. The app allows you to see real-time information about the location of your student’s school bus and receive notifications when the bus is getting close.
We are currently using the lite version of the app, but we may upgrade to the more robust version in the future.
To get started, download the Edulog Parent Portal Lite app from the Apple or Android store. You can download the app using the QR code found on the JCPS Edulog Parent Portal Lite website.

At Echo Trail MS, we believe students learning the content over simply memorizing material is important for the educational environment we want to provide. We want to begin to provide information to you in order to support your student and better understand what Standards Based Grading is and is not. Please know that SBG will not affect GPAs or transitioning to High School. The majority of Middle Schools in JCPS are shifting from traditional grading practices to SBG.
What does SBG do?
Student learning of grade level standards is measured and communicated.
Students know where they are at in their learning of grade level standards.
Clear learning goals are explained to students and students receive communication about their progress towards these learning goals.
Students receive feedback on assignments to further their understanding of content standards.
Students have the opportunity to use feedback and improve their “grade” and to show their mastery/learning of grade level standards.
If you have any questions regarding your child's lunch account, please call Ms. Sims, the cafe manager, at 502-546-7570 or you may email her at julie.sims@jefferson.kyschools.us
Click here to review your student's rights granted by Kentucky state law.
Our Echo Trail Music Department had a week long collaboration while JCPS operations is putting the finishing touches on our music wing. Check out what our Band, Choir, and Modern Music students learned as we focused on our G.R.E.A.T. acronym here at Echo Trail!
Congratulations to our Volleyball teams on their wins during their first week of competition!

Your student athlete will not be able to participate in any activity (including practices) until they have completed the Echo Trail Athletics Physical Packet (click here for Packet PDF). This includes the WHOLE packet. Use the cover sheet as a checklist to complete all required forms in order for your student athlete to be eligible to start their desired activity.
The "Parent Permission/Release Form" must be completed and must be taken to get notarized in order to be verified (places to notarize: banks, UPS stores, etc). The sports physical portion of the packet (pgs. 7-9) must be completed and signed by a doctor or certified medical professional to verify the form, stating that your athlete is cleared to participate. Read the instructions on page 10 about the remaining pages of the packet. If you do not have a FULLY COMPLETED packet to present to an Echo Trail Coach or Administrator by the start of the first practice, your student athlete will not be allowed to participate until the full packet has been completed and turned in.
Thanks for your attention to this! We Expect greaT things from this Wolf Pack!

JCPS has a quick link for back-to-school forms and information: jcps.me/parents
Under Parent Place you will need to complete the following forms: nurse consent to treat at school, student information enrollment form, student residency, student support handbook, and more.
These forms need to be completed as soon as possible for a smooth start of the school year.
Click here for a visual walkthrough of the Parent Portal site.
Another very informative link for parents is the main JCPS Parent website, jefferson.kyschools.us/parents.
You can set up a parent portal account by clicking Parent Portal tab if you don't already have one. FYI, Parent Portal is locked down by the district until the first day of school, August 9th.
Finally, we'd love to have you participate in field trips and other volunteer opportunities. Click on the blue box Get Involved: to complete the Volunteer Talent Center for background check. Background checks are kept on file and good for 5 years.
