Hello Wolf Pack Families!
Thank you for another grEaT day at Echo Trail on Friday! Our students were able to experience our cafeteria for the first time. It was awesome seeing their eyes light up when they saw the space. I would also like to say a BIG THANK YOU to our amazing PTSA for providing our staff with all the caffeine and snacks. We are very appreciative.
Monday will be our first day for students to follow their schedule and first full week. Please know we will continue to help guide them through transitions and there will be plenty of adult presence throughout the hallways. We want to do everything we can to support our students.
Unfortunately, due to the projected heat index, we are rescheduling our field trip to the Parklands to ensure the safety of our students. Please stay tuned for the new date.
Students will take home the JCPS Device Usage Agreement form for signatures. Please sign and return this week.
Our Wolf Pack on Friday heard from our admin team and how we are going to set them up for success this school year. Preview the slide deck used here.

At Echo Trail MS, we believe students learning the content over simply memorizing material is important for the educational environment we want to provide. We want to begin to provide information to you in order to support your student and better understand what Standards Based Grading is and is not. Please know that SBG will not affect GPAs or transitioning to High School. The majority of Middle Schools in JCPS are shifting from traditional grading practices to SBG.
What does SBG do?
Student learning of grade level standards is measured and communicated.
Students know where they are at in their learning of grade level standards.
Clear learning goals are explained to students and students receive communication about their progress towards these learning goals.
Students receive feedback on assignments to further their understanding of content standards.
Students have the opportunity to use feedback and improve their “grade” and to show their mastery/learning of grade level standards.
We will begin collecting School Fees - what you can expect:
9-week Courses:
Modern Music $15
Art $15
Semester (18-week) Courses:
Choir $30
Year Long Courses:
Band $65
One-Time Fee for Explore Classes: $30
Business Communication, Consumer Science, Engineering and Design
All Students Instructional Fee (all core content) $20
Cash, Check or payment on My School Bucks will be accepted.
Need assistance setting up MSB? This My School Bucks Welcome Letter will walk you through the process.
If you have any questions regarding your child's lunch account, please call Ms. Sims, the cafe manager, at 502-546-7570 or you may email her at julie.sims@jefferson.kyschools.us

Parents/Guardians,
We are excited for our first ever Echo Trail athletics season to begin! We have several Fall sports already starting tryouts and practices. Here are a few quick notes to share as we get started.
Your student athlete will not be able to participate in any activity (including practices) until they have completed the Echo Trail Athletics Physical Packet (click here for Packet PDF). This includes the WHOLE packet. Use the cover sheet as a checklist to complete all required forms in order for your student athlete to be eligible to start their desired activity.
The "Parent Permission/Release Form" must be completed and must be taken to get notarized in order to be verified (places to notarize: banks, UPS stores, etc). The sports physical portion of the packet (pgs. 7-9) must be completed and signed by a doctor or certified medical professional to verify the form, stating that your athlete is cleared to participate. Read the instructions on page 10 about the remaining pages of the packet. If you do not have a FULLY COMPLETED packet to present to an Echo Trail Coach or Administrator by the start of the first practice, your student athlete will not be allowed to participate until the full packet has been completed and turned in.
Thanks for your attention to this! We Expect greaT things from this Wolf Pack!

The Wolf Pack is looking for more field hockey players. If you are looking to join a team for the fall season, we need you! Any girl that is interested needs to get a sports physical and report to practice on Tuesday (8-22-23) @3:00 PM at Eastern High School.
Please contact Heather O'Bryan and Kristen Boone with any questions you may have.

Our competitions have started, but if your student is still interested in joining the Cross Country team, there's still time! This is the last week to join, so please reach out ASAP in order to sign students up for meets.
Can my kid play another sport at the same time? Yes!
As much as I would love all runners to be at every practice and meet, we understand that may not be possible. I strongly recommend attending as many practices as possible, but this isn't a "make every practice, or you're off the team" kind of sport. Just give us a heads-up and we'll work out the details.
When and Where is Practice?
Mon, Tue, and Thu 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Sat 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Beckley Creek Park | meet at the parking lots of the Humana Grand Allee Soccer Fields
Students must have a completed physical and athletic packet to turn in to us before they may run with the team. Email us for details!

JCPS has a quick link for back-to-school forms and information: jcps.me/parents
Under Parent Place you will need to complete the following forms: nurse consent to treat at school, student information enrollment form, student residency, student support handbook, and more.
These forms need to be completed as soon as possible for a smooth start of the school year.
Click here for a visual walkthrough of the Parent Portal site.
Another very informative link for parents is the main JCPS Parent website, jefferson.kyschools.us/parents.
You can set up a parent portal account by clicking Parent Portal tab if you don't already have one. FYI, Parent Portal is locked down by the district until the first day of school, August 9th.
Finally, we'd love to have you participate in field trips and other volunteer opportunities. Click on the blue box Get Involved: to complete the Volunteer Talent Center for background check. Background checks are kept on file and good for 5 years.
