IMPORTANT INFORMATION for FAMILIES
Thank you to everyone who attended Parent Teacher conferences the past two nights. It was wonderful for our teachers to be able to meet so many parents, and our partnership with you is of the utmost importance. It is no problem if you didn't make it to a conference- please continue to reach out to your child's teachers should something come up.
On behalf of the Drake staff, we would also like to thank the Drake PTO for providing wonderful dinners on both nights. Your support is so appreciated!
It is recommended that you do not drop off your Middle School age students at High School football games at the NAAC. High school administration and security are very busy supervising the high school students, as well as monitoring gates, teams, officials, etc. There is essentially no supervision for younger kids who are hanging out on the north and south ends of the field. Over the past couple of weeks, there has been an increase in concerning behavior from the students in these areas, so all schools are asking that Middle School students and younger not be dropped off and allowed to attend games without parental supervision. Please feel free to come and enjoy the games with your students and assist us in keeping all students safe.
School attendance on October 2 in critical for school funding. If you can avoid making appointments or missing school for any reason, this will help us get accurate attendance for the number of students that we have in the building this year. This, in turn, will result in accurate funding and resources for our very large number of students. Thank you for your attention this!
Drake Dragons have the opportunity to fly around the world this summer! One of the trips that has limited spots left is Adventure in Costa Rica! This trip is scheduled to take place between May 30th - June 18th!
Ms. Ewald will be holding an information night on Tuesday, September 26th. RSVP here!
Check out the tour website to see the itinerary and the different activities like hiking a volcano, rafting, ziplining and so much more!
Families - The Outdoor Lab Informational Night will be on October 10th at 6pm. On this night, we share information about what to pack, how to prepare, and all the things families and kiddos will need for their journey to Mt. Evans and Windy Peak.
Please join us on the evening of October 10th to get all your questions answered. Our Outdoor Lab site leaders this year will be:
Mike Williamson, Mike Hack, & Jacob Underwood
If you are picking your student up midday, it is very helpful if you call ahead preferably before 2pm. This gives us time to send a pass for the student and have them in the office when you arrive. It may take up to 20 minutes to retreive your student if they are not called in ahead of time.
If students are checked out early and miss class they are responsible for making up all missed material. The best action a student can take when they know they'll have an early release is to let the teacher know in advance (preferably 24hrs) and make a plan with that the teacher.

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and all month long, we will be sharing information on the announcements and in the Drake Deets to bring awareness to this difficult topic. Each Friday, Advisement classes will do an optional activity to practice protective factors. Protective factors are characteristics/behaviors that protect individuals from negative mindsets/behaviors. Our goal is to spread hope and share vital information so that we can keep one another safe. Jeffco has put together some community resources to "Get Educated", "Take Action," "Start a Dialogue," and "Save a Number, Save a Life."
