Early checkouts are causing a major disruption to our Main Office, the safety of our building, and to our learning environment. Please consider making appointments when possible on non-student contact days. If you do need to check your student out for a non-emergency, please call at least 2 hours in advance on the day of the excusal. Checkouts with no advanced warning could take 15 minutes or longer.
Tis the season, and since our students have returned from Outdoor Lab, we have seen a large increase in students coming to school and going home sick, and students being called out for things like fever, Covid, and Influenza. As a reminder, here are some guidelines for determining whether your child should come to school if they are not feeling well. Thank you for helping to keep our student body healthy.
Group pictures for the yearbook will be taken starting the week of Feb 26 during Access/Advisement, DEAR time, and Thursdays Academic Focus time. We will continue into Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of following week during Advisement/Access as well. Please refer to this picture schedule so that your child can plan on being there at his/her scheduled time.
A great time was had by all at the Valentine Social! Kids danced in the gym, silly - stringed teachers in the cafeteria, played games in the library and sang karaoke in the auditorium. The kids were well-behaved and appeared to have a blast! We had so many staff and community volunteers! HUGE thanks to Ms. Johnson and her Leadership group for putting on a great event!
Registration for Track & Field and Soccer opens on February 19th! Be sure to visit the Skyhawks website soon as they will start to upload important information. Both seasons begin the week of March 25th. Click HERE for more information.

In addition, if you have one or more students at the same school, please take the survey thinking about your oldest student enrolled. Be sure to select the submit button at the end of the survey so your responses are captured. The survey will remain open until Friday, February 23.

COMMUNITY INFORMATION
A research study is being conducted by a senior attending Arvada West High School as part of his AP Research class. He is requesting our help in getting participants between the ages of 11-18. This requires parental/guardian involvement for students under the age of 18. All of these opportunities are voluntary. All student information will be kept confidential.
Mark Redford is looking to see the impact of age on the perception of music. Mark's survey entails listening to chords and assigning a rating. If you prefer your student not to participate, that is completely up to you. If your student may participate, we are asking that you work through the survey with them, so that we know they have your permission. This survey will take 5 minutes.
If interested and willing to participate, please join the Google Classroom @ qu3a2xe
