IMPORTANT INFORMATION for FAMILIES
Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences
Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday, October 15 and Wednesday, October 16 via Google Meets. HERE are the signup sheets for each teacher. Simply click on the teacher's sign up link and choose an available time. This was sent out via School Messenger on Tuesday, and will likely fill up very quickly. Please sign up for conferences by Monday, October 14th, by 9am. We ask that you make every effort to keep your conferences to 5-6 minutes. If you feel that you need more time, please reach out to the teacher directly to schedule a separate time. Thank you!
Drake Fall Social- Save the Date
Save the Date: The Fall Social will be held on Monday, October 28th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Click this link for more details. We are in need of parent volunteers for crowd control and to help run the events. If you are available, please reach out to Ms. Johnson at miajohns@jeffco.k12.co.us
We are also in need of donations of bags of candy and baked goods for the social (if not store bought, please include a list of ingredients). Candy can be dropped off anytime, baked goods can be dropped on the morning of October 28. Bagged candy can be dropped off at any time, please just make sure all items are clearly marked with Fall Social on them and given to the front office.
*Please note - Students with 2 or more Fs will not be permitted to join the social. We are reminding students and families around this expectation.
Dragons Around the World
Our Capitals of Scandinavia trip in June 2025 is hosting a WREATH FUNDRAISER. The wreaths, door sprays, and centerpieces come from Minnesota and smell amazing (fresh pine!). For every item sold, $8 will go towards the trip for students. Order now your item will be mailed starting November 11th right to your door! Just click on this LINK to order! Yearbooks are for Sale Now!
The 2025 Drake Middle School Yearbook is on sale now. Visit yearbookforever.com and type in Drake into the school search bar. Follow the prompts to purchase your yearbook today. The cost is $50.00.
Each year, yearbooks do sell out so please reserve yours early so your child is sure to get one!
Please note: Yearbooks can NOT be purchased through Jeffco fees
8th Grade Parents: Baby Ads need to be purchased by Thursday, October, 31st
If you want to purchase a baby ad for your graduating 8th grader, you must do that by October 31st. Go to yearbookforever.com and click on "Create a Baby Ad." Ads cost $50.00 to offset the extra pages we must purchase. We will not sell baby ads after October 31st in order to allow us to meet our first deadline.

F.A.C.E. Small Groups are Back!
Do you have a student who struggles with anxiety? We're excited to start our "F.A.C.E. Your Fears" small groups again starting in mid October. This program is designed to support students in managing anxiety and improving their well-being. Please take a look at this parent Information presentation to find out more about what students will learn in the group. This will be a 6-week small group that meets weekly during Advisement on Thursday mornings. If you would like your student to be considered for the small group, please email your student's grade level counselor.

From the Library: Drake Families! Thank you so much for your support during our Scholastic Book Fair! Our sales hit $5000, which means the library will be able to choose $1000 in Scholastic Books AND receive $750 in cash to buy more books through Follett. COMMUNITY EVENTS AND INFORMATION
Golden High School's informational night for next year's 9th graders will be held on November 6th from 4pm-6pm. No RSVP is needed for this event. Please reach out to Golden HS with any questions you may have.
Arvada West Girls Flag Football would like to invite your female students to attend our Girls Flag Football game on Wednesday, October 16th against Mullen at 5:30 pm at Trailblazer Stadium (100 S Kipling St, Lakewood, CO 80226). Please use the following coupon: Flag Football Youth Night Coupon for your student to enter for free. Parents will need to purchase a ticket through the GoFan app or upon arrival via Credit Card.
All American Wrestling is an organization right here in our Drake community. This scholarship opportunity is open to all ages/genders/abilities. Applications should be sent to team_awa@yahoo.com. One applicant will be chosen to receive a $350 scholarship for the 2024-2025 Team AWA Folk Style Wrestling season. All applicants will receive a discount code towards registration on https://www.allamericanwrestlingacademy.com/
They are currently seeking to award a $350 scholarship to a Drake student that:

Role Models: Write about someone who has significantly impacted your life and how their influence has guided your ambitions.
Future Goals: Share your career aspirations and how this scholarship will help you achieve them.
Innovative Ideas: Discuss a problem you see in the world and propose a solution, explaining how you plan to work toward that solution.
Lessons from Failure: Talk about a failure you experienced, what you learned from it, and how it motivated you to keep going.
Personal Growth: Explore a moment that led to significant personal growth and how it has prepared you for the future.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. We all have known someone or even been personally diagnosed with breast cancer. The Drake Middle School community would like to give back to a local charity. Hope Chest provides specialized sweatshirts to women facing mastectomy surgeries and are delivered at no cost prior to their surgery to handle the drains. Hope Chest will be celebrating its 3rd Annual Gala at the Applewood Golf Course ( 14001 W 32nd Ave., Golden , CO 80401). We would love to have a great representation from our Drake Community at the event. Tickets are available at the link below.
