There are many ways to manage virtual break out sessions using Google Meet using the group assignment functionality in Moodle.
Determine the number of groups you plan to use and title them accordingly (e.g., Group A, B, C or Team 1, 2, 3, etc.)
Within your Moodle shell follow the Creating Course Announcements by Group procedure, and add a Discussion Forum for each group in step 1 above.
Once teams disperse, faculty can then open multiple sessions of Google Meet, minimize the screen, and jump in and out of the various sessions. Just remember to mute yourself in all sessions to avoid feedback and mixed/conflicting conversations. Also, if the whole class session remained active, prior to dispersing to the teams, advise all groups to mute the primary session.
You can share pre-determined URLs for your classroom meetings. Begin by creating the URL, for example "BUS321A". Then front end the title with the following "https://g.co/meet/" and add the group name BUS321A. The URL you would share would read "https://g.co/meet/BUS321A". Share this URL with the members of group A. Proceed with other groups, (BUS321B, etc.) and relay the assignments to the class. Copying and pasting this into the address bar, the URL would then be given the nickname BUS321A as shown to the right. =>
