IIS Andrea Ponti

I.I.S. “Andrea Ponti” is technical school. I.I.S. is an acronym and it means High Educational Institute. The school was founded in 2006 by the merging of three basic local schools: The Vocational Institute and the Technical Institute located in Gallarate and the Surveying Institute located in Somma Lombardo.

A little talk about labratories

The school has labratories for every course: Mechanic, Electric, Computer science, Chemistry, Physics lab and so on. There is a linguistic lab on 3rd floor too. A new labratory has been created in the school recently and it's named "Idea Lab". This labratory shows all the advance technologies of the current Industry 4.0.

What are Technical Institute courses?

Technical institute provides 5 year courses. Some of technical institute courses are:

Mechanics, Mechatronics and Energy
Electrotechnic and Automation
It and Telecommunication
Chemistry and Biotechnology
Aircraft Construction.

Mechanics-Mechatronics is a unite of principles of mechanics, electronics and control system. This course deals with general issue related to planning, management of equipment system and industruial production. In this course students learn concept of mechanics and electronics, modelling of mehanical parts, use of machine tools, industrial automation, robotics etc.

In energy, the students analyze and deepen the specific matter connected to the conversion and use of energy, to the related technical systems and to the safety and environment conservation rules.
