Using a GO-PRO Camera installed in the driver's case, we were able to record the excellent driving sensation of our Hydrogen Go-Kart.
We took the first lap around the circuit and no loss of power was noticed.
First, we weighed the vehicle and we obtained 192 KG. Which is around double that of a recreational GO-Kart and 20% more than a KZ GO-Kart with similar characteristics to the Hydrogen GO-Kart.
The increase in weight lies in the batteries, the electric motor and the hydrogen bottle respectively.
With the batteries charged to 100%, the initial Voltage before starting to ride is 53.8 Volts.
We started the tests with the bottle indicating almost 100 bars of pressure, which could mean around 30 or 40% of its capacity.
The new bottle comes with 200 bars of pressure.
We adjusted the pressure of the circuit using a manual regulator to 0.75 bars. On the first turn we observed that the regulator loosened with the vibrations and the pressure dropped to 0.5 bars, which meant that the Fuel Cell stopped for protection, to avoid working empty.
In other subsequent laps, we adjusted the pressure to 0.8 bars, which is its maximum pressure recommended by the manufacturer and we observed that at certain times, even with the Go-Kart stopped, with the Fuel Cell working trying to recover the batteries, the Pressure increases up to 1.2 bars and the Fuel Cell stops for protection to avoid overpressure.
After all the tests, we came to the conclusion that the best regulation pressure for its operation is 0.7 bars.
After around 7 or 8 laps of 920 meters each, which makes a total of about 7.5 KM, the Fuel Cell has been able to maintain the battery voltage at 51 Volts, which represents around 90% of his capacity.
The fuel cell charges the batteries, providing between 0 and 20 Amps.
Top speed 69.7 km/h
Acceleration with curves: 0 to 50 km/h in 68 seconds
Maximum lateral acceleration on this circuit: 2.2 G
To finish the day of testing, we carried out an exit test between a recreational Go-Kart and our Hydrogen Go-Kart and the result is overwhelmingly in favor of our Hydrogen Go-Kart that makes use of the powerful torque of its electric motor .
