This is a short diary in which we’ll try to explain the best moments and the best activities we made during the Erasmus in Malta. Maybe with a little irony.
Sunday 29/09: on Sunday, we landed in Malta airport and, in a very short time, we understood that the temperature wasn’t the same of Milan. In the afternoon, while we were waiting for our friends from all the Europe, we visited with our teachers the small village where the hotel was situated: St Julians. The small village was very cool, but also very chaotic. Finally, in the evening all our colleagues had landed so we met in the hall of the Allegro Hotel; everybody was very nice and we got on well in a few moments.
Monday 30/09: in the morning of Monday we visited the school in Valletta and after a little explanation about the schedule, we started visiting Valletta on foot, guided by two Maltese guys, in this way we appreciated better the city... ahaha obviously I’m joking, I think we walked too much. In a few hours we visited a big park of the capital, then we made a break in Upper Barrakka Gardens where there was a beautiful view of the bay and the sea. In the afternoon, we continued our visit in the center of Valletta, then we saw the Harbor Club where I was very near to have a bathe in the sea! Then we returned to school and we caught the bus directed to Allegro Hotel.
Tuesday 01/10: on Tuesday, we had a free morning; but it had the only purpose of preparing us for the long walk we would have in the afternoon, indeed we visited Valletta Cruise Port, where our teachers found a new boat to buy: a 40 meters extra-luxury yacht. From the edge of the Cruise Port we took lots of pictures of the great view of the city. We liked a lot this visit and we were sad to return immediately to the Hotel for the evening.
Wednesday 02/10:in the morning of Wednesday, we visited the University, where we saw different kind of technologies, such as CNC machines and 3D printers, and also a cool lab where students were studying different types of engines. We had a great lunch in a very good restaurant called The Cliffs; we also took lots of pictures of the view, but not too many because we were very hungry. In the afternoon, we visited a peculiar, small, old village: Mdina, The Silent City; it was a real silent city until we got there; the windows of the houses were special, painted with different colors and with a lot of different kinds of flowers hanging from the windowsills.
Thursday 03/10: this day was very cool, but also very wearing, because by ferry we reached the isle of Gozo, a beautiful place where we saw San Lawrenz rocks. Thursday was a very windy day so we saw a rough sea and we took some photos making sure the phones didn’t fall out of our hands. Then we stopped near the Ta’Pinu Church of Miracles where we only photographed the statues, unfortunately there weren’t any miracles for us. In the afternoon, we visited Cittadella and then the Cathedral of Gozo, this trip was very long but it was worth it. We saw the beautiful hills of Malta, and a variety of landscapes.
Friday 04/10: on Friday, we visited another side of Malta, guided by two Maltese guys, and then we had some free time; we saw the city life of Malta and we thought it was very chaotic and different from the Italian one. After lunch we met our teachers in the center and, in the late afternoon, we returned to Allegro Hotel.
Saturday 05/10: Saturday was the heart of the journey, because at last we went to a Go Kart circuit, we had a competition, and even if we didn’t win, we did our best; I’m sure that two more rounds would have changed the result, after all Rome wasn’t built in a day. After this beautiful experience, we returned to Allegro Hotel where we said goodbye to our colleagues who were leaving Malta.
Sunday 06/10. This day was a relaxing day before returning in Italy, in the morning we visited another port (Port carico merci Harbour turistico) of Malta, we ate on the seashore thanks to our teachers who always have good taste, like a sixth sense, especially for food. In the afternoon, we returned to the Hotel, we packed our luggage and, in the evening, we thanked John for the hospitality and we took off from Malta Airport.
I WANT TO THANK YOU ALL FOR THE BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE, WE HOPE TO MAKE YOU LAUGH WITH OUR IRONY AND I HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE SOON, MAYBE HERE IN ITALY TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT...ENJOY!
