Newly Qualified Teachers

Newly Qualified Teacher Induction Professional Learning Programmes

In order to support all staff involved in the statutory process of Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) Induction,  we offer this suite of programmes designed to support the statutory process of Induction.

The national NQT Induction professional learning offer builds on the skills, knowledge and experience gained by newly qualified teachers in Initial Teacher Education. NQTs are supported to develop their practice and to reflect on the induction level descriptors of the professional standards for teaching and leadership.

The professional learning offer also includes support for the Induction Mentor (IM), the External Mentor (EM) and the External Verifier (EV) who support newly qualified teachers. A range of opportunities support colleagues to develop their mentoring and coaching skills, as well as to provide practical support and guidance to NQTs completing the process of induction.

The Induction Mentor Development Programme has been created in partnership with Initial Teacher Education colleagues from Aberystwyth, Bangor and the University of South Wales and ensures continuity of mentoring support from initial teacher education, through  to induction.

For further information, please see the outline of each programme below. The national professional learning offer for induction can be accessed by joining the Microsoft Teams space link provided in the pages below.
