The varsity girls soccer team finished an impressive season with second place and bonds that will last forever.
The Blakelock varsity girls soccer team brought back a striking second place win in all of Ontario on June 4th. After an amazing season with only one loss, the team headed to the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) in Bradford. They competed and won all games, until the finals. The opposing team won by just one point.
The team had a total of 126 goals throughout the whole season with only 10 against. Throughout the games, the team stuck to the same formations and gameplay. Their strategy proved effective with some games showcasing their 6-0 win. All players showed incredible strength and strategy with impressive teamwork.
Not only were they proving to work well together on the field, but off the field, their bonds were just as strong. As the first team since the COVID-19 pandemic began, most players had never worked with each other before. That being said, they came together, mentored each other, and bolstered each other with incredible sportsmanship and encouragement.
"They really lifted each other up; they were really good as a team", Mrs. Miller-Sonnenburg stated after the game.
The season was one to remember, as the team worked incredibly hard and surely left an amazing legacy for Blakelock at OFSAA.
