Where Responsive Classroom is a proactive approach, Logical Consequences are the reactive tools that staff can use to get kids back on track if the Responsive Classroom techniques are not working. Logical Consequences are consistent with the values of Haven and Responsive Classroom and provide students with a chance to fix a mistake, rather than a punitive punishment system.
For example, if a student throws food in the cafeteria, a punitive response would be to miss out on recess. A logical consequence would be to help the kitchen staff clean the cafeteria in order to respect the work the kitchen staff is doing by providing food to students and repair the relationship with the staff.
