The safety and security felt within the Haven building doesn't come from the walls that surround us -- our culture and success has been built by the individual, talented team members that have contributed to our school’s pioneering design. From the very beginning, Haven Academy recognized that to truly create a trauma-sensitive learning environment we prioritized hiring staff members who had as much social emotional expertise as instructional expertise. We use a strengths-based approach to aligning all of our talented team members to the important work that all of our students and families deserve.
To accomplish this, we’ve built a robust professional development system that is responsive to data, staffing structures that are flexible to meet staff and student needs, and a cultivated environment of communal accountability. All of our staff members - teachers, specialists, administration - are essential parts of implementing and improving the Haven model. We focus on equity and self-care for our team members, as well as a culture of constant learning and continuous improvement.
