Haven staff follow clear guidelines for how different behaviors should be managed. Low-level behaviors are managed by teachers in the classroom, while behaviors higher in the hierarchy are either managed with a combination of in-classroom and out-of-classroom support, or fully managed out of the classroom by support staff/administration. Consistent consequences are given for behaviors that require out of classroom management. Teachers and out-of-classroom specialists work together to develop skills and plans to manage behaviors, make data-driven decisions around additional supports needed for students and teachers, and continuously improve the Haven culture of ownership and school-wide positive behavior systems.
