Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
In a team with Cody
What materials will you need for your project?
PC, light-o-rama, iPad,
What is your plan to create in this project?
I plan to figure out how to operate the light-o-rama
What unique qualities will your project have?
No one else has worked on the light-o-rama so I will be the first to work with it
Examined the light-o-Rama
watched tutorials on the light-o-rama
continued to watch tutorials
looked for a plug for the light-o-
Rama
plugged in christmas lights
plugged light-o-Rama into PC
continued to try to get it to work with PC
Using Light-o-Rama, I was unable to create anything because we were unable to program the light-o-Rama. The Light-o-Rama wasn't connecting to the PC, so we were unable to program it. I think we needed other Light-o-Rama controllers or possibly a different plug.
During this process, I learned what the light-o-Rama was. I learned what people can make with the light-o-Rama and what it can do. I learned what kind of plugs it needed and where they went
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to knowledge constructor because I had to find out what the light-o-Rama was and how to program it. I had to research what it was and what it could do.
A challenge I overcame on this project was having never worked with the light-o-Rama and not going anything about it. I was able to do it by looking at tutorials and videos. I looked at multiple videos to figure out how to overcome this challenge.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change how we got no results. The reason why I would change it is because I would like to get it to work and to see what it could do. I would also like to see how to program the lights and what different lights would look like.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. This is because we were going to program the Light-o-Rama.
My project connects to careers in audio-visual technician because the Light-o-Rama connects to light shows and events. Audio-visual technicians work with the audio and lights of an event or show, using lights, speakers, and other technologies. Their annual salary is $70,000 for experienced individuals.
