Reflection on my project
Using cardboard, cardboard scissors, cardboard saw, and tape, I made a plane because me and Braylen thought it would be an interesting thing to create. We made it by putting together separate pieces we made from cardboard. We began by making the the body of the plane, and then added the wings, and finally made the head from tape.
During this process I learned to cut cardboard into unique pieces and put them together to make something cool. I learned a little about planes during this project. I also found that Braylen had some good ideas about how to make it.
The 7 standards are empowered learner, digital citizen, knowledge constructor, global collaborator, innovative designer, creative communicator, and computational thinker. My project relates to innovative designer because we designed the plane and how to put it together. It relates to global collaborator because it is on a website for the world to see.
A challenge I overcame was making the nose of the plane. I was able to overcome it by making the nose out of tape instead of cardboard. It would have been much more difficult to make the nose out of cardboard, so instead we wrapped tape around the front of the plane.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change how we built the plane out of tape instead of hot glue. I would do this because I saw how others who used hot glue and their projects looked nice. I think our project would have looked much better if we had used hot glue.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. That is because we engineered the plane and how to put it together.
My project connects being an aerospace engineer because it revolves around designing an airplane. An aerospace engineer designs planes, aerial defense systems, and spacecraft. Their salary is $130,720 per year.
