Using Tello Drone, I created a code for the drone to execute because we were having a competition on who could make the coolest code. I had my drone fly up, go in a triangle, hover, go in a circle, flip, sway, turn, move forward, and land. Aubrey won the competition with her musical drone performance
During this process, I learned how to code the Tello Drone to make it do what I wanted. I learned how to manually fly the drone using the controller. I learned how to hook up the drone to my Chromebook to program it.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Global Collaborator because my drone's video is on my website for the world to see.
A challenge I overcame on this project was having my drone malfunction or not do what I wanted it to do. I was able to do it by updating the drone or changing the battery.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change what I did with the drone. The reason why I would change it is because I think it would be cool to see what else I could get the drone to do. I would enjoy seeing the full scope of what they could do.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer programing CTE program at Hastings High School. This is because I programmed my drone.
My project connects to careers in Drone Piloting because I learned to fly the drone during my project. Drone Pilots earn $47,000-$54,000 annually. They design and execute flight patterns for various reasons, as well as work in filming and other commercial uses.
