What materials will you need for your project?
We will need a Sphero Bolt, wooden blocks, iPad, and a computer.
What is your plan to create in this project?
We are going to make a maze for the Sphero Bolt to go through and we will race them.
What unique qualities will your project have?
We will make the Sphero bolt go through the maze and see who can go faster.
Today we learned how to control the sphero bolts and started to talk about the maze we are going to make.
Today we got a lot done. First we set up our sphero bolts. Then we made our maze. After that we raced our shpero bolts through them and we ended up tying.
Today we raced again and we still tied.
We raced again today and I ended up winning the first time but we tied the second time.
Today I made my videos and reflection. This means my project is over.
Using a mini sphero bolt, wooden blocks, and iPad, I created a race for me and my classmates sphero bolts because I thought it would be fun to race our sphero bolts and see who could do it faster. The sphero bolt were kind of hard to control but other than that they were really fun. I would definitely do this project again.
During this process, I learned how to control a sphero bolt with my iPad. This process was a little bit difficult because sometimes the bolt would get confused and go the other way. But with my classmates help I finally learned how to control it.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Global collaborator because we are sharing our projects with the world through our websites. I think it's really cool that we get to do this and I'm very grateful I'm able to.
A challenge I overcame on this project was controlling the bolt. I was able to do it by asking my friends for help. Once I was able to do this it was very easy for me.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the difficulty of the maze. The reason why I would change it is because the maze we built was very simple and I think it would be fun to make a more challenging one. I would like to also add ramps and obstacles to our maze.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Digital Multimedia CTE program at Hastings High School. This is because we used our iPad to control the bolts and to make our videos.
My project connects to careers in photography because we took pictures of our project and made videos with them. I think this career would be fun but I wouldn't be very good at it. Overall I had a lot of fun with this project and I would definitely do it again.
