Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working with my classmate ava.
What materials will you need for your project?
The dash robot, iPad, and computer.
What is your plan to create in this project?
We are going to race our dash robots.
What unique qualities will your project have?
We will be able to code them so they can race.
I made my list of ten and planning questions. I also started exploring wiht the robots and their apps.
Today we made the maze that we are going to race through and I started to program my robot for it.
We made a new maze today and and re programmed it.
We made a new maze today and I timed my race. I had 26 seconds.
Today I made my video with iMovie and wrote my reflection.
Using a Dash robot, iPad, computer, and wooden blocks, I created a maze/race for dash robots, because I wanted to see who would win between me and my classmate Ava. This was a very fun project. In the end we ended up tying.
During this process, I learned how to program a dash robot to go through a maze. I learned that you have to make it very precise for the program to work. It took me a long time to get to code right and make the maze.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Computational Thinker because I explored with codes and made my own for the maze. I really had to think and test run my codes throughout the project.
A challenge I overcame on this project was measuring and getting the codes right for the dash. I was able to do it by taking precise measurements and taking my time with the project. It was really fun once I figured out how to do it.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the difficulty of the maze and program. The reason why I would change it is because want more of a challenge. I believe that if I had more time with this project I could have done this. The maze that we ended up doing was very simple and easy to code.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. This is because I got to program codes and experiment with the robots.
My project connects to careers in software development because it both deals with making codes and experimenting with them. They also had to test run a lot of there work just like I did with mine. Overall I had a lot of fun with this project and I would definitely do it again.
