Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working with Jada and Ava.
What materials will you need for your project?
We will need cardboard, plastic, tape, hot glue gun, scissors and markers.
What is your plan to create in this project?
Are plan is to create a roller-coaster, and our backup plan is a cardboard animal.
What unique qualities will your project have?
A cart will be moving down a track.
Worked on list of 10 things and planning questions. Also started planning what we want to make.
Started building the first part of our project.
We built stilt and connected them to our base.
We did a lot today including glue the slide to the stilts, make fences around it and built the car.
We finished our car and the fence around the slide.
We tried different methods to make the car go down the slide. But for right now we are sticking with the wheels.

Reflection:
Using cardboard, popsicle sticks, duck tape, and a hot glue gun, I created a cardboard roller-coaster/slide because I thought it would be fun to try and design a moving cardboard roller-coaster. It was very hard getting the height right so the finished product looks like a slide. It still works like a rollercoaster it just doesn't have turns and hills.
During this process, I learned how to build a slide using different sized stilts and platforms. I also learned how to make a small cardboard car. This was very fun because I got to test different styles and see which one worked best.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative design because I looked at someone else's work and built it how I wanted it to look. We tried to make it as close to the picture as we could.
A challenge I overcame on this project was making the car go down the slide. I was able to do it by adding duck tape to the bottom of the slide to make it slippery. It still doesn't work like I wanted it to but it is as good as we could get it.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the height and look of my roller-coaster. The reason why I would change it is because I think if it had more height it could have more potential. I would also add turns to it would function like a real roller-coaster.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering and Design CTE program at Hastings High School. Engineering Design is identify complex design problems, conduct root-cause failure analyses, and anticipate production issues.
My project connects to careers in Fashion Designer because they design and make their own clothes. Then they sell them to others for money. Many famous designers clothes are expensive so they make a lot of money.*
