8P8 3-D Printing

    Reflection

•  Using Tinkercad, and a 3-D printer, I created a coffee mug for my mom. I did this because my mom loves coffee and I wanted to make a special coffee mug for her. I also wanted to make a Mother's Day gift for her in addition to buying something.

• During this process, I learned that fitting text onto a rounded object is much harder than I thought. I also learned how to design a coffee mug. One final thing I learned was the dimensions of a coffee mug are not as easy to work with as a cube. 

• The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to innovative designer because I used the design process to complete my design. It also connects to this because I stayed with the task and kept improving and adding until I believed it was finished.

• A challenge I overcame on this project was the long printing time. I was able to do it by doing other parts of my project before having the print done. I could have also made the print smaller to reduce printing time.

• Given a chance to do this again, I would change is the text size. The reason why I would change it is because the text is difficult to read at the small size it is.  Another reason I would change the text size is because the glow in the dark material is more shiny and translucent making small text difficult to read.

• Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing.  My project connects to the engineering design CTE program at Hastings High School.  It connects to engineering design because I reviewed my design and changed things or added details until I felt it was perfected.

• My project connects to careers in  3d design because I designed something to be 3d printed. It also connects to those careers because I used a 3d design software to create an original design.
