7P3 Microbit project

• Using a microbit, I created a name tag, a dice, a flashing heart, a microchat, and a love meter. Because I wanted to learn how to code basic things onto a microbit. I also wanted to discover what the microbit can do.

• During this process, I learned how to code a microbit. I learned this through completing tutorials and testing out what the microbit can do using the code blocks. I also learned that the microbit is a very easy to code device and is very good to help develop coding skills.

• The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to computational thinker because I used a computer and a device to create a model. Also, I used code to discover uses for the microbit. Finally, I used the code to solve problems with the microbit.

• A challenge I overcame on this project was not knowing how to code at first. I was able to do it by using the tutorials and paying close attention to what certain blocks functions were. I also looked through the different types of blocks to help me get a grasp on how to code. 

• Given a chance to do this again, I would change not craeting a game. The reason why I would change it is because had I done the game I would have challenged myself further to try and do something more difficult. I also would have liked to use the sound feature on the microbit.

• Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing.  My project connects to the  computer programming CTE program at Hastings High School.  My project connects to careers in game design, web developing, and computer system analyzing. It connects to these careers because I used a computer to code a device to do what I tell it to.
