Reflection
Using an Adafruit, Circuit Playground Express, and an iPad, I created a music player, a siren, clap lights, and a light show. I made these things because I wanted to create entertaining designs that were a challenge to make. Another reason I made these things is to create a unique project with a codable device.
During this process, I learned how to code an Adafruit. I learned this by going through tutorials and by playing with different codes. I also learned how to make an Adafruit react to a free fall, I learned this by looking through the different functions.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to the empowered learner because I set a learning goal to reach and was able to reach it. Another reason it connects to this standard is because I was able to tell when a program worked the way I wanted.
A challenge I overcame on this project was this being the first time using Adafruit. I was able to do it by trial and error with new codes. I was also able to do it by using the tutorials to understand the more complex features.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the clap lights. The reason why I would change it is because I wish I was able to make it so you must clap again for the lights to turn off. I, unfortunately, was not able to find a tutorial for doing this. I was also unable to find a way to do it through trial and error.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the computer programming CTE program at Hastings High School. It connects to this because I programmed a device to create something using a computer.
My project connects to careers in video game design because I coded something using a computer to make it do what I want. It also connects to robotics. It connects to robotics because I coded a device to complete a task.
