Planning questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
By myself
What materials will you need for this project?
Tinker Cad, and a 3-D Printer
What is your plan to create this project?
I will design a shadow flopper model with things from TinkerCad.
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will be very well-designed and will have all the little details of a square fish.
I worked on my list of 10 and planning questions.
I began working on my project
I continued working on my project, I added fins on the sides and the back.
I added rings around the eyes and sent my project in for reviewing.
I finished leveling out the fins on the top and back.
Final Project
Reflection
Using Tinkercad I created this square fish because I wanted to have a decoration for my nightstand in my room. My nightstand is very plain and I wanted to add something cool to fill the space. I also wanted to add something I created to my room instead of a random decoration.
During this process, I learned how to use Tinkercad better. I learned how to use grouping tools to simultaneously make everything bigger or smaller instead of doing them separately. I also learned to use more complex shapes to create a detailed design.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to innovative designer because I brainstormed ideas to solve my problems. It also ties to innovative designer because I used a specific process to complete my task.
A challenge I overcame on this project was not being able to find a level spot for the fins. I was able to do it by making the fins bigger to make it easier to level them. I also moved the fins to the middle a bit more by grouping the top and back fins to move them at the same time.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change is the back fin not being printed all the way. The reason why I would change it is because it would add some more detail to the fish itself. Another thing I would change is the size of the fish, I made the fish a little to big but I feel that it still looks great.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the engineering design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to this because I used a computer to tell the 3-D printer what to build. My project connects to careers in 3-D design. My project connects to 3-D design careers because I use the computer to create a design to be created in physical form.
