Planning questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
By myself
What materials will you need for this project?
Computer, Tinkercad, and 3-d printer
What is your plan to create this project?
I will design an item on TinkerCad and use a 3-d printer to create that item to solve a problem
What are the unique qualities of your project?
I will create a door holder that can hold the door open for you.
I did my project planning.
I started working on my design for a doorstop.
I continued working on my doorstop design
I continued working on my design, I changed the size so that it can be printed, and I added a hole in the top so t can also be used to store small items like keys when not being used as a door stop.
I worked on my design, I removed the small hole as it may mess up the density of the doorstop. I also made the doorsop longer

Reflection
Using Tinkercad, and a 3-d printer, I created a doorstop because I wanted to create a doorstop to solve the problem of having to hold the door open. I wanted to solve this problem because it is sometimes annoying to have to open and hold the door for people behind you. Also, the doorstop can be used for many occasions other than stopping doors if you can think of a way to use them.
During this process, I learned that creating a doorstop is not as easy as it seems. This is because there is logic to the dimensions you use and have to make it the correct density and you must use the correct shapes to create an efficient doorstop. I also learned that the doorstop must be an accurate size in order to actually work.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to innovative designer, because I used the design process to solve an authentic problem. I also used my mind to brainstorm the solution to solving this problem.
A challenge I overcame on this project was figuring out the dimensions. I was able to do it by using the snap grid and finally figuring out how to enlarge the whole thing at the same time. However, the dimensions were still too small so, I need to continue to work on figuring out the grid better for future projects.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the size of the doorstop. The reason why I would change it is because the doorstop is far to small to stop a regular sized door. Also, the doorstop was not heavy enough to slow a door down.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the engineering design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in Computer-Aided Drafting, Engineering, Architecture, Robotics, Construction, and Manufacturing. It connects to these because I used a computer to create a 3-d design.
