Reflection
Using a Chromebook, screwdrivers, and an iPad. I reverse-engineered a Chromebook. I did this because I wanted to learn what the inside of the Chromebook looked like and how it was arranged.
During this process, I learned that a Chromebook is very complex. It has many different tiny parts inside of it that are all essential for it to work well. I also learned that a Chromebook is much easier to take apart than I had thought.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to the empowered learner standard because I learned how to define and describe some of the Chromebook parts. It also connects to Empowered Learner because I set a learning goal to learn about the Chromebook and met it.
A challenge I overcame on this project was all of the different size screws that looked very similar. I was able to do it by paying more attention to the screwdrivers I was using. Another challenge I overcame was not understanding the parts of the Chromebook at first, I was able to learn by asking questions and looking at where it was placed.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change into reverse engineering the larger computer. The reason why I would change it is because there are more parts in one of those. Another reason I would change is it would have been more of a challenge to take it apart.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the engineering design CTE program at Hastings High School. It connects to that because I took apart the pieces of a Chromebook to learn about it.
My project connects to careers in software reverse engineering because I took apart a piece of technology to learn more about it. It also connects to this because I understood the design and reversed it.
