WORLD BOOK DAY
The day was packed with a variety of engaging activities that encouraged the children to delve into the world of literature. The children explored ‘Reading their way’ in reading sessions, joined in with live online lessons, created their own bookmarks and book covers and we even created our own ‘Where’s Wally’ scene in our Forest School area!
The joy of reading was evident everywhere you looked. It was heartwarming to see so many children immersed in stories and expressing their love for books.
A special highlight of the day was the amazing range of costumes! It was fantastic to witness the children embracing their favourite characters and showcasing their creativity.
STARS FOR THE DAY- YOUNG VOICES 2025
On 20th January, 29 choir members from Years 4, 5 and 6 spent the afternoon at the O2 Arena rehearsing with 8,000 children from schools across the country as part of the Young Voices Choir.
The choir had signed up in October and from then, were dedicated by coming to weekly rehearsals. Leading up to the big day, they had 2 weeks where they met each day to ensure they were O2 ready!
The children (and adults accompanying them) performed amazingly on the night: they performed 10 songs to a packed O2 audience, ranging from a Marley Mash-Up, a Hairspray the musical Medley and a YV original song. The children had a fantastic day and it is definitely an experience that will stay with them for many years to come.
A huge thank you to Ms Bayliss for organising this wonderful opportunity and also for collating a fantastic video of the day's events!
MUSIC WEEK
Huge thanks to Ms Bayliss for organising Music Week; thank you to those who visited us and gave up their time to inspire our pupils, and thanks to all of the staff for helping to prepare the musical extravaganza at the end of a very busy term!
🎄Festive Fun!🎄
On 11th December, we had a traditional Christmas dinner with roast turkey, roast potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, gravy and pigs in blankets. (We got some lovely cupcakes for dessert as well!) On this special occasion, everyone brought in some Christmas crackers to pull and make a bang! We also wore Christmas jumpers on the day of the feast. At Hartley, we celebrate Christmas like it is Christmas day and enjoy fun with our year group. As well as a Christmas dinner, we came in wearing Christmas jumpers. These jolly jumpers made for a cheerful day for everyone!
TTRS DAY!
On Friday 11th October 2024, we hosted a Times Table Rockstars day to encourage and motivate students to participate in learning their times tables and engaging in a fun filled day. We celebrated by dressing up as rock stars - crazy hair, blow up guitars, fake tattoos, face paint and all the works!
