Growing a Plant:
Jack & the Beanstalk
Many students do not understand the life cycle of a plant. Some students think that a plant starts as a seed and then grows. Some students also do not know the basic needs of a plant: soil, water, sunlight, and air. For the duration of the week, students will learn about the life cycle of a plant, plant parts, and the basic needs of a plant for growth. Students will also be able to compare/contrast between nonfiction (plants) and the fictional book Jack and The Beanstalk to understand that some fairytales have real events that occur. Students will also be able to learn how to help our environment by planting. Students will then take all that they have learned an write their nonfiction plant stories.
