Soap Project

Students were given the task to create a hand made solid bar of soap. The students were able to research soap recipes to find out what type of ingredients they would need. The only specific things they were told was that the soap would be a lye based soap. Students researched all kinds of recipes and either chose a recipe to try or created their own recipe. They chose all of their ingredients from color, to scent, to kinesthetic ingredients. Students had to ensure that the ingredients that they chose all went together and would form soap. Students then had to calculate the amount of ingredients that they would need in order to make 12-15 bars of soap. Students then began the process of making the soap from scratch and deciding how they were going to cut the soap in order to be able to market the soap to an audience.
