Censorship
We used Argumentative Writing (unit) to create an independent Essay using Argumentative Essay structure and research-based evidence on their chosen position on the topic: To Censor or Not To Censor Social Media. After Essays were reviewed and edited, we took time to find those who agreed with each other. Students used their essays to find others in the class that shared their same opinion. Collectively, students made a newspaper editorial based on the group essays to pull evidence, facts, and pieces from the essays to make sure each person had ownership in the editorial piece. When completed, students chose a picture to head off their editorial for publishing. Each class has a newspaper.
