Hartwell Elementary School Appreciation Gallery
Third-grade students will engage in a project focused on becoming biographers. Students will get to know and show appreciation for members of the HES community.
The children will make a list of HES staff members whom they feel are not always noticed, thanked, or recognized for their hard work. They will explore and discuss what it means to interview someone, watch examples of professional interviews, and conduct practice interviews with surprise guests. After they develop their interview skills, the students will select a HES staff member to personally interview. Next, they will craft interview questions designed to help us learn more about these staff members, their role in our school community, and their interests and passions outside of work. Once the interviews are completed, the students will write biographies to celebrate these important members of the HES community. The students will then create portraits of the person they chose. Students will then present the biography and portrait to the person they wrote about. Also, students will record themselves reading the biography on FlipGrid for our virtual student showcase.
