The Eras Tour features all of the different “Eras” or phases and styles of Taylor Swift's life. She performs a plethora of songs from her different albums. She picked different songs that would represent and sum up that era. Taylor performed about 46 songs at each show. According to Rob Sheffield with Rolling Stone magazine, “It’s a journey through her past, starring all the different Taylors she’s ever been, which means all the Taylors that you’ve ever been. Taylor always designs every tour to be the best night of your life. But she designed this one to be the best night of all your lives." This tour proved to be full circle for her fans because they had the opportunity to sing songs that had never been performed in concert before. They got to live through all of the different eras and reminisce on all of their memories made to the soundtrack of Taylor's Discography.

During the tour, Swift had constant costume changes that symbolized styles from her different periods. Many of her outfits were recreations of past iconic outfits she has worn on tour or in her music videos. According to Olivia Marcus with StyleCaster magazine, “Between era-themed rooms moving across the digital screen, completely coordinated dance numbers…there’s a whole lot to pay attention to on stage. Of course, at the forefront is Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour outfits—she really outdid herself with an entire wardrobe of outfit changes throughout the show.” Each album had numerous outfit changes all representing her different Eras. Between bodysuits encrusted in jewels and gems and dresses covered in fringe and stunning ball gowns, there were many iconic outfits she rocked.

Another fundamental part of the tour has been friendship bracelet trading between fans. This was inspired by a lyric from Taylor Swift’s: “You’re on your own kid.” The lyric, “So make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it” gave fans the idea to make friendship bracelets and trade them with other “Swifties” at the concerts. Many bracelets are themed and represent the different Eras. According to Ryan Fish from The Hollywood Reporter, “One attendee in Chicago brought a gallon-sized Ziploc bag full of the accessories to hand out to those around her.” At most concerts, security guards and other staff could also be seen sporting the bracelets given to them by fans. This has been a special way for fans to connect and create new friendships at the concerts.

A very important feature of the concerts is Taylor Swift's surprise songs. At each concert, Swift performs two surprise songs apart from her standard setlist. Each show has different songs that are performed acoustically. Songs are only repeated when Swift believes she needs to re-perform a song to do it better justice. This has been exciting for fans because they are left waiting for it to be revealed the entirety of the concert.
