Create a Portfolio

with Google Sites

Start Here:

  1. Go to the new Google Sites

2. Click on the + in the bottom right to create a new site

3. In the upper left, name your site: your initials + Portfolio

4. Go to the Pages tab on the upper right

5. Select the + on the bottom right to create a new page

6. Name the page for the section, then click Done

7. Click on the 3 dots that appear when you hover over the Scratch page link

8. Select "Add subpage"

9. Name the first one: "About Me"

10. Once you are ready, click Publish and give it a name. Note: you might have to try a different name if someone else already uses the same initials

Make sure for "Who can view my site" it is ONLY set to "Anyone at GUSD" (don't change it)

After every change and update you must click Publish again.

11. Once it is published you can click on the drop down next to Publish to view your published site. Or you can click on view on the bottom that pops up, but that goes away after a few seconds.

12. Now you can copy your URL from the top and share with TClark, by using the google form, or others!

    • TClark recommends you bookmark your site.

You can click on the pencil icon in the bottom right to edit your site.

Here are some examples of what you can do with Google Sites

  • Change the theme

  • Change background image/color of each section on a page

  • Click the gear on the top navigation to switch to a side navigation

  • Create and add a logo for the upper left

  • Create new pages/sections for your other classes and projects in all classes

    • You can add pages 4 levels deep, so have a top page for each class (English, Math, Science, ...) or for each year (9th, 10th, ...)

    • Then under those pages you can add subpages and subsubpages for each category

  • Maybe add a page to link to your friends' Scratch projects or portfolio webpage

  • You can embed images, Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, PDF, YouTube, Desmos, Scratch, Khan Academy, Replit code

  • Make sure your site only has acceptable materials on it

    • You will be sharing this with teachers and parents/guardians!
