Problem Solving with Division

Overview

Your student will be learning:

different strategies for how to solve division problems; such as partial quotients (forgiving method), area models and the traditional algorithm.
estimation is a strategy that makes a problem easier to compute.
compatible numbers are numbers that are easy to compute mentally.

Example:

348 ÷ 7, using compatible numbers to estimate, would be changed to

350 ÷ 7, since 35 is divisible by 7.
