Multiplying 2-digit Numbers

Overview

Your student will be learning:

partial products can be used for 2-digit and 1-digit multiplication calculation.

Example: 35 x 6 = (30 x 6) + (5 x 6)

= 180 + 30

= 210

rounding to the nearest 10 can be used when estimating products.

Example: When estimating 35 x 6...

35 rounds to 40.
40 x 6 =240
so, 35 x 6 is about 240.
