The Cooling Test Bench

The motorcycles we design have electric power trains and the harder we push them the hotteer they get. To make sure the bike stays within its operating temperatures the Mechanical Team models and benchmarks the bike using our cooling test bench.

The cooling test bench uses a 1500w heater mounted inside of a reservoir connected to various temperature sensors and components to measure the way the heat is transferred through the system. 

Over the years we have experimented with many different ways to model the thermal system and collect data. Currently we have a matlab and simscape model developed by Sean Trimberger. Please reach out to him to learn more about this important testing tool.
