Beaglebone Black Rev A6 Battery Specs
Specs
7 days or 1 week of battery life ( 168 hrs) on Idle
Only Power the Gateway i.e Beaglebone Black
li-ion or Li-polymer
Gateway Dimensions( w/ battery cape not including the battery):
L: 96mm
W: 55mm
T: 36mm
20,000mAh to 30,000mAh battery
Make cover 2.5mm thick from PLA plastic
Outputs:
Beaglebone
Power input jack( cable outside the module)
HDMI(Cable outside the module)
CAN pins on top shelf (internal)
USB for Freedompop (internal folded 90º to the bottom).
Battery
Input Micro USB (external connection)
Output USB (external connection)
Options:
One Li-ion Polymer 20ah with one Li-ion Polymer 10ah battery cell stacked that sits underneath or adjacent to Gateway. The dimensions of both cells are slightly larger than the module itself, therefore, the cells will act as a base to the Gateway cover or an adjacent battery capsule mounted alongside the Gateway.
Dimensions:
20Ah(ATP F20-09150225 from Alibaba)
L: 225mm; W: 150mm; T: 9mm
10Ah (877160 from ATP on Alibaba)
L: 160mm; W: 73mm; T: 8.5mm
Cost
20Ah $1-8 depending on quantity ordered
10Ah- $8-30
Three Stacked 10Ah Li-ion polymer battery cells placed underneath or adjacent to Gateway. The same battery cell as option . This provides a simple, easy to construct solution that can allow the system to run on one or two cells upon an impending failure of one or two of the cells.
Dimensions:
10Ah (877160 from ATP on Alibaba)
L: 160mm; W: 73mm; T: 8.5mm
Cost:
10Ah- $8-30 (X3)
One 3.7V 30Ah Li-polymer battery cell mounted underneath the Gateway inside the Gateway cover. This option provided the tightest, simplest and most cost effective solution. Nevertheless, with only one cell the risk of cell failure increases as their are no back-up cells.
Dimensions:
30Ah (25100130 HY/ OEM From Alibaba)
L: 130mm; W: 100mm; T: 25mm
Cost:
$ 3-8 depending on quantity ordered
Design for the worst case scenario in the prototype stage
this may be optimized later when the prototype is tested under real world simulation
Battery Specs for WC
Table 1.0: Battery Specs for Beaglebone Black Rev A6. The Serial CAN Cape (CBB-Serial) pulls 100mA when active.
Solution:
Use battery for back-up charge during the race and to possibly power the driver information screen. A 5V 1500 mAh fully contained Li-ion battery is preferred to power the Gateway for roughly 5 hours at 300 mA of draw.
