REMINDER- Friday is Senior Decision Day! Underclassmen will be eating in the gym on Friday and are also encouraged to visit with college and military tables.
Prior to lesson, please cover running for Student Council by clicking the link below:
Topic: Raise.me Scholarships
Goal Statement: Students will learn information about the Raise.me Scholarship program, as well as, create an account.
Materials:
• Laptop
Procedures:
Have students log into their computers and go to: https://www.raise.me/
Students will click on "I'm a Student Button" and follow prompts to create an account. Remind them to use a password they will remember...have them save it in their phone or write it down. Students should use the e-mail address that they most frequently check.
Students will then choose schools to follow, fill out any activities/awards/grades/etc. that they have done so far to determine how many micro-scholarships they already qualify for at various schools.
Discussion questions, if time (have students guess and then Google answers):
What is the average cost of a college text book?
What is the difference between a private college and a public college?
Does tuition or room/board cost more at the University of Iowa? What does room and board mean?
How might the Raise.Me micro-scholarships help you at college? What might you use the funds for?
5. **Remind students that they can update their Raise.Me account anytime. Those that wish to, can also request a copy of their transcript from Jody in the Counseling office to verify grades.
