Topic: What is a Transcript?
Goal Statement: Students will understand what information appears on their official transcript, who will see it, how it is interpreted, and how to improve it.
ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors Standard (s): B- SMS 1: Demonstrate ability to assume responsibility
Materials:
Slideshow, “What Transcript?” (below)
Student Transcripts (which will also be used for Spring Parent- Teacher Conferences)
Procedures:
Review Slideshow with students
Hand out transcripts to each student.
Have student review the following for clarification:
Is address, DOB, guardian’s correct?
Courses and grades listed should reflect S1 report card
Under Overall Summary, look at credit hours
Students should have at least 6.0 to be on track for graduation, they will need 12 total to be considers a sophomore next year
Under Overall Summary, examine cumulative GPA and class rank
At this point, 9th graders cumulative GPA should be the same as their 1st semester GPA, except for some students who took Algebra 1 in 8th grade.
Encourage students to set a few goals for how they will improve their transcripts.

What is included in the transcript?
What will the information on the transcript say to others about you?
