Topic: Grit/Growth Mindset/Malleable Intelligence and Door Decoration

Goal Statement: Students will understanding that we can improve our abilities and having a growth mindset is the key to learning. Our brains are built to learn the best when we’re operating at the edge of our abilities, outside of our comfort zones, and when we make a lot of mistakes.

1. Informally assess what students already know through T/F statements.

    • T or F- You can always substantially change how intelligent you are.

    • T or F- Our brains learn best operating at the edge of our abilities, outside of our comfort zones.

    • T or F- Most of us struggle with learning because of our fear of failure and looking bad.

    • T or F- Having a growth mindset is the key to learning.
