Brindlee sells two types of trucks: Inventory Trucks and Brokered Trucks.
Inventory truck sales refer to sales made by Brindlee of a fire truck which Is currently owned, or Is contracted to purchase, by Brindlee.
Inventory trucks are tracked In the Product object In Salesforce. Products are automatically created when an Opportunity record, with the record type of Purchasing - Buy Is marked Closed - Won.
To determine If a product Is an Inventory or broker sale, refer to the field on the product named Type of Sale. There are only 2 choices.
For an Inventory Sale, there are several types with different characteristics; these types can be seen In the field on a Sales Opportunity named Shop Type. There are 5 types we will discuss below:
BMFA: This Is a truck that Is sold, Including the Items to be performed at Brindlee's Alabama campus which are noted In the Product field named Included with Retail Price.
Earlybird: This type sale Indicates that the vehicle will not physically arrive at Brindlee, FTU, Co2, or any other facility. Rather, through creativity, coordination, and good, ole fashoined salesmanship, the salesperson puts a deal together to deliver the vehicle from one Fire Department, (or dealer where we recently took It on trade), to the end-user. Watch below as Jeremy McCoy talks through the high points of How to perform an excellent Earlybird Sale.
You can read through a transcript of Jeremy's presentation here - Best Practices for the Earlybird Sale
Wholesale: This type sale Indicates that a vehicle, already located at Brindlee, FTU, Co2, or another staged facility Is sold with limited additional work, (generally less than 25 shop hours), to another dealer, or to a Fire Department who understands the current condition of the vehicle, and Is happy to use It as Is, or has plans to coordinate their own work on the vehicle.
Other Shop: This type sale Indicates that the salesperson Is utilizing another facility to fulfill terms of work to be performed on a truck prior to acceptance by a customer. So, we still own the work process, but It Is being performed at a provider not within our ownership.
FTU: This process matches the BMFA Process, but just means the work will occur at FTU.
When Brindlee has acted as the Introductory party to two other parties that transact the sale and purchase of a vehicle, we have "brokered" the truck. For this service, we have a standard rate structure of:
The sale of the vehicle Is between the 2 other parties, after completing this sale, Brindlee will Invoice the seller with the agreed upon rate Identified In the listing agreement with the seller.
If requested, Brindlee can provide a bill of sale template for the customer.
Broker Sales where BMFA is acting as an agent and facilitating the sale: In some cases, the buyer or seller may request that Brindlee receive the funds or hold funds. In this case, Brindlee can act as the Intermediary agent and use this form - Sales Agreement (3rd Party, BMFA only brokering or acting as Agent) - Revised 08.08.2023
When completing a broker sale where BMFA is acting as the agent, please use the field "What is our next step to sell?" to define what needs to be done (i.e. fund the seller "$xxx" once payment is received from the seller, withhold $xxx for logistics, etc...). This field should also align with how the BMFA Agent agreement is written.
