Once all candidates are seated randomly, the proctor should conduct a brief introduction. National Testing Network proctors use the following script to ensure candidates have a uniform and positive testing experience:
“Thank you for coming to take your test today.
While taking your test on this computer, visiting any web pages, directories or utilizing any unauthorized programs will result in immediate disqualification of your exam and your exam will end instantly.
You will read the exam instructions on the computer screen. For timed portions of the exam, the time you have to complete that part will be on your computer screen.
If you have any issues such as the video or audio not playing smoothly, quietly raise your hand and get the proctor’s attention.
Do you have any questions? OK. Please begin.”
The following are specific guidelines for ensuring that all computer-based information is kept confidential as test security is of the utmost importance to NTN, the test developers and our clients. Refer to the full Security document here.
Never leave a candidate at a testing computer without proctor supervision. It takes seconds for a candidate to attempt to copy test content. As stated in the Security section of this site, no USB drives or data sticks, MP3 players, tablets, cell phones, cameras, or other digital recording devices allowed in the testing room.
Proctors have permission to watch computer screens. If a proctor sees a candidate on a website that is not the candidate’s test, or attempting to record test content, stop the test and escort the candidate from the property.
For proctor accountability, the NTN testing system tracks online proctor interaction.
Do not share passwords with fellow proctors. All NTN proctor passwords providing access to the candidate information must be protected.
Be available in case of technical issues.
If a proctor feels security is compromised, please submit an Incident Report to National Testing Network immediately.
