How to become a certified Proctor with National Testing Network

After receiving proctor certification test scores (as applicable) and required documents, NTN will confirm that the proctor certification process is complete and supply the proctor with a username and password to access the proctor website.

1. Study and be trained on all materials in this site

Proctors may refer to this Proctor Wiki at any time during administrations. However, it is critical that they understand the basics before candidates arrive to begin testing.

2. Sign a Test Security Agreement

All proctors and administrators must sign a Test Security Agreement and keep it on file at their location.

3. Take the Written and/or CPAT Proctor Certification Exam online

• NTN Test Site: All test site employees must take the Proctor Certification Exam.

• Vendor Test Site: At least one lead proctor at each vendor site/CPAT vendor site must take the exam.

Proctors are able to take the Written Proctor Certification and/or the CPAT Proctor Certification from this Proctor Portal.

The Written Proctor Certification exam consists of 30 questions. This is a closed book exam that will ensure that proctors understand all the critical information in the guides. NTN will receive the scores, 70% correct is required for passing. Proctors will be notified of the results of their exam.

The CPAT Proctor Certification consists of 100 questions. NTN will receive the scores, 70% correct is required for passing. The CPAT Proctor Certification is only needed if you are administering the CPAT physical exam.

4. Certify background checks

• NTN Test Site: All NTN employees must be given a background check prior to employment.

• Vendor Test Site: All vendor sites must certify that their proctors have been given a background check prior to any NTN test administrations. This certification is a required component of the NTN Test Site Agreement.
