Alberta Applications
Applying to post-secondary isn't as daunting as you may have thought, in fact it can be accomplished quite easily. Doing your own research and keeping informed helps tremendously. Here are a few key steps and resources that can ensure a painless application process.
Have this ready before you start:
A. Your Alberta Student Number (ASN). You can find this number on your EPSB Report Card or ID card or by visiting: learnerregistry.ae.alberta.ca
B. Names of all high schools you have attended or are currently attending.
C. Your high school courses and marks (transcript).
D. A credit card to pay for the application fees for the institutions.
E. Which program you’d like to apply to. Do some research beforehand. You can learn more about your options at: alis.alberta.ca/plan-your-career
Finding your ASN:
You can apply to post-secondary in four simple steps:
1. Obtain a MyPass account
2. Obtain an ApplyAlberta account
3. Know which institution
4. Know what program
1. MyPass
Get a MyPass account
Visit: public.education.alberta.ca/PASI/myPass/Welcome/Index
Press "Sign in with Education Account."
Select "I'm new, sign me up!" and enter your email address.
An email will be sent to the address you provided.
Continue the application process from there.
You now have a MyPass account!
2. ApplyAlberta
Get an ApplyAlberta account - For Alberta Universities Only
Visit: applyalberta.ca
Press “Apply Now!”
Select which Post-Secondary institutions you’d like to attend.
Fill out your personal information and complete the account creation process.
It will take you to your chosen institution’s website, continue the application process there.
You now have an account! It is also known as a SIAMS account.

3. Post-Secondary Institutions (in Alberta)
Do you know what faculty and program you’d like to apply to?
Complete the ApplyAlberta part of the process.
Continue through the specific institution's online application process. If you have any questions, ask your guidance counselor or contact the institution directly.
4. Specific Programs
Art Institutions in Alberta
Create an account through ApplyAlberta.
Ensure you have all of the required supporting documents, e.g. a portfolio.
This will differ from institution to institution.
Final official transcripts must be forwarded to your institution of choice.
Can be obtained through mypass.
Royal Military College of Canada
Go to rmcc-cmrc.ca/apply-now
The Canadian Armed Forces offers paid university for selected candidates who perform military service.
*To apply, you must first be a member of the Canadian Armed Forces and registered in the Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP). For more information, visit: canada.ca/department-national-defence/service
Trades Institutions in Alberta
Be sure you know what specific kind of trade or occupation you plan to go into.
The high school requirements for specific trade occupations are linked below: tradesecrets.alberta.ca/Requirements
Create an account through applyalberta, then go to: tradesecrets.alberta.ca
Click “Access online services”.
Click “Apply for AIT (Apprenticeship and Industry Training) Programs and Services”.
Click “Apply for AIT Programs and Services”.
Start your application, and work your way through the online application service.
You can do this while in high school or afterwards (RAP or regular program).
You can also register for certificates at this website.
Transcripts
Ordering Transcripts
Go to mypass.alberta.ca.
Create an account and pair it with your student ID.
Click “Order Transcript”.
Continue through the ordering process.
