For Tenure-Track Faculty members in their first three years at Elms College.
End of September
You’ve been assigned an Official Faculty Mentor.
Make sure a Google folder was created for you by the Office of Academic Affairs.
Create your own copy of the Google folder in your own Google account. This is the working draft of the portfolio you will submit for review in the fall of your third year. Begin to insert documentation and evidence into four subfolders entitled: general information, teaching, service, scholarship.
End of May
You should have held at least four formal mentoring meetings with your Official Faculty Mentor during your first year.
You should know the members (including chair) of your Third Year Review Committee. Consult your division chair or school dean if you don’t.
Review the working draft of your portfolio. See if you can create subfolders within each of the three main categories–teaching, service, and scholarship–based on the criteria for tenure applications in the Faculty Handbook.
You should:
Have at least one course that you can use as an example of your teaching
Have a plan to demonstrate that you can meet the Level I and II requirements in the scholarship criteria
Know the standing faculty committee on which you will be serving during your second year.
