Hello! Today, I'm going to teach you how to write a recount. Lets take a look!
Ok, so, first of all, lets get one thing clear. A RECOUNT IS NOT A NARRATIVE STORY. A recount is a piece of writing someone writes to explain what has happened in the past. Here is an example recount.
A recount of my Saturday morning by me.
This morning, I had a bit of a sleep in. I was up at 8:00 instead of 7:00, but it was ok because it was a Saturday. Afterwards, my friend Jen called and said she was going to the ice-cream parlour in the corner at 10:30. I said yes but then I quickly rushed out of my bedroom and into the living room. My parents were having breakfast, so I joined them and gulped down my orange juice in record time. Then, I got dressed and ran out the door.
When I got to the ice-cream parlour, my friend Jen was already at a high place in the que, so I joined her as we decided what flavours we would have. When we reached the ordering table, a small, plump woman was already asking us what we wanted. I went for mint choc chip and Jen had cookies and cream. We then walked down to the beach and had a lie down in the sun. I got so tanned, not even my best friends would recognize me!
Overall, it really was a wonderful morning, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The text above is an example recount of a wonderful morning. As you can see, the person is talking about her/his morning, so she is recounting it. Here are the steps to writing a recount.
Step 1: A good way to start writing a recount is thinking about the who, what, where and when. Remember that there may be more than one of each though I will only mark out a few.
Step 2: Once step 1 is completed, write your recount. Remember to think about the who, what, where and when planning mentioned above.
Step 3: Once finished writing, remember to edit your work. Then, its done and ready to publish!
