Public Speaking is a subject in which you write and present a speech. Today, I'm going to be telling you quite a lot about public speaking and, how to nail its ups and get rid of its downs.
Remembering in what order you have to do things is hard, especially when it comes to public speaking. However, i have just the way to make it easier. Use the PRSWPP (Pronounced pursewop). Here is the strategy:
Plan your speech. This includes doing things like thinking about your topic. In this example, my topic will be WEBSITES.
Research your speech. Using the example, if i was doing websites, then I might research things like: Who made the first website? How do you make a website?
Study your speech. This includes doing things like writing down key points from the research part and memorising them. You can also do more research.
Write your speech. This will most likely be either handwritten (by whoever makes it) or typed (also by whoever makes it). Some people will only write key points, but others feel its better to have word by word, its all your choice.
Practice your speech. This includes practicing in front of parents/siblings/family members and/or toys or pets. Practise until you feel confident with what you are saying.
Present your speech. As the final point in your speech structure, it is the most important. Remember to project your voice, speak clearly and avoid fidgeting.
Stage fright is when you get nervous before performing/being on stage. It hits some people a lot, it hits some people a bit, and, well, some people don't get it! Here are some signs of stage fright:
Head ache
Stomach ache
You really don't want to go on stage
You're grumpy/sad
The good news, is that there are many ways to remove stage fright! Here is a list of things you can do to stop it:
Have a relaxation session a few hours before you go on stage. Some of the things you can do in the session include yoga and meditating
Do some extra practice a few minutes before you go on stage. This can help make you realize that there is nothing to be scared of
Talk to an adult you trust. This could be a parent, babysitter, aunt, uncle, friends mum or dad, and even your school nurse! Remember that talking about it always makes it better.
