Dogs are small mammals that are commonly used as pets. They can be many shapes, sizes ad colors depending on their breed.
Dogs are omnivores, meaning that they need nutrition from meat and plants alike to survive. Some things that you might find a dog eating are meat, bones, dog food. Though this may seem like its all meat, dog food can actually have plant and herbal proteins in it.
If you want to have a healthy and happy dog, its important to make sure that it is getting plenty of food, water and exercise.

Question 2. What color are dogs?
Question 3. What do dogs eat?
Question 4. Do you think that different sizes of dogs need different amounts of food? Why or why not?
I strongly believe that dogs are better than cats.
Firstly, imagine that you had a bad day. Would you like to come home to your cat sleeping on your couch and ignoring you, or would you like to come home to your happy dog yapping and cuddling you when you really need it?
Secondly, dogs will make lazy people HAVE to exercise, therefore decreasing obesity rates, however, cats just walk themselves when and where they want to.
Lastly, I absolutely believe that dogs are better than cats because they are friendly, playful and joyful animals that will make the best companion you have ever had.
Question 1. Notice the persuasive language. Highlight All of it (the persuasive language).

A Lovely Morning
A recount of my Saturday morning by me.
This morning, I had a bit of a sleep in. I was up at 8:00 instead of 7:00, but it was ok because it was a Saturday. Afterwards, my friend Jen called and said she was going to the ice-cream parlor in the corner at 10:30. I said yes but then I quickly rushed out of my bedroom and into the living room. My parents were having breakfast, so I joined them and gulped down my orange juice in record time. Then, I got dressed and ran out the door.
When I got to the ice-cream parlor, my friend Jen was already at a high place in the que, so I joined her as we decided what flavors we would have. When we reached the ordering table, a small, plump woman was already asking us what we wanted. I went for mint choc chip and Jen had cookies and cream. We then walked down to the beach and had a lie down in the sun. I got so tanned, not even my best friends would recognize me!
Overall, it really was a wonderful morning, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Questions:
Highlight the who, what, where and when. *Note 2: There may be more than one
What time of the year do you think this takes place at? Why?
Leaves fall and twirl,
they crumble and curl,
And at the end of the day,
The leaves will say "shhh"
Up in the morning,
The kids balls are turning,
Running leaves over,
Not even leaving an unsquished clover.
Its night time now,
There's possums on the prowl,
We lay motionless, praying.
But the possums leave, their hunts keep delaying, we wonder
Why?
